Carina's introduction

I lead ESG and Impact Strategy at Quadria Capital, a healthcare-focused private equity firm managing US$3.5 billion AUM across South and Southeast Asia. As part of the value creation team, I integrate ESG and impact principles across the investment lifecycle — origination, execution, ownership, and exit. Collaborating with the investment team, I work with leading healthcare businesses to achieve strong performance and meaningful social impact. Before joining Quadria, I provided sustainability consulting services across ASEAN, Hong Kong, and Mainland China, leveraging extensive expertise in sustainable strategies and growth across various sectors.

Top 3 pieces of advice to The Matcha Initiative (TMI) users ?
  • Collaborate with both internal and external partners to support your initiatives. Teaming up is how we make real, lasting change happen.
  • Sharing your challenges or ideas can spark fresh insights and lead to exciting connections. You’re not in this alone — plenty of others are navigating the same path!
  • Focus on intentionality: Begin with small steps, consistently test your approach, learn from setbacks, and apply those lessons as you progress.
How could you help TMI users ?

I am happy to share my experiences in ESG and Impact investing and stakeholder engagement. I would also love to collaborate with organisations within the community to strive for improvement, and support businesses embarking on this journey from the ground up.

Expertise in the following
What brought you to sustainability?

My commitment to sustainability has been shaped by a series of pivotal experiences and interactions over the course of my career. I firmly believe that ESG is driven by a combination of sparks — innovative ideas — and stars — transformative leaders and organisations that make a lasting impact. Be it in my current role as an ESG and Impact champion within the firm, or during my previous consulting engagements with a variety of companies and organisations, I have worked alongside numerous stakeholders throughout my journey. These include limited partners, general partners, external consultants, and corporates who share a common vision of driving positive environmental and social change. These experiences have not only strengthened my belief in the importance of sustainability but have also allowed me to witness firsthand the transformative power of collective action.

Which sustainable actions are you in charge of or have you implemented in your organisation?

My primary focus is driving ESG and impact initiatives within the firm. Fun fact: It all started with simple actions — like sending an email titled "ESG and Impact" to ensure the message reached colleagues and portfolio companies. From there, I moved on to develop impact theses for potential deals, conducting due diligence, and collaborating with founders and management to define action plans. Believing in the power of face-to-face interactions, I also engage directly with committee members and working-level kickstarters within portfolio companies to support implementation, identify areas for improvement, and unlock the dividends through an ESG and Impact lens, to develop compelling narratives to share with stakeholders. These include investors, partners, industry organisations, and the broader TMI community.

Which challenges did you meet and how did you overcome them?

When I first delved into sustainability after my undergraduate studies, the scale of the challenge was overwhelming: the more I explored, the more I realized how much there was still to learn. This constant "the more you know, the more you don't know" feeling became a daily reality for me.

However, the flip side is that recognising what you don't know keeps you humble and open to learning from all sources. Reflect on your journey, bring your questions to the table, engage in thoughtful discussions, and challenge ideas with the right people. Even a single line from a conversation could be a key takeaway — either reinforcing your belief in sustainability or offering new perspectives. Maintaining a fresh, open mindset and embracing every "a-ha" moment has been essential in paving my way, both in my career and in life.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of having that touch of inspiration to start my day and explore something new.
